WHAT
WE'VE
MADE

NJ FoodBank

Development

July 2011
  • CSS3
  • Custom Wordpress plugin
  • HTML5
  • Isotope.js
  • Modernizr.js
  • PHP
  • Wordpress

This project involved the migration of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey’s website and content to a new Content Management System powered by WordPress, in addition to a new Constituent Relationship Management tool powered by Blackbaud that would manage and record donor and volunteer interactions both online and offline. Everything was built using the latest HTML5 and CSS3 specifications. Since the website needed to be accessible to all who are interested in finding help or donating, compatibility with all versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome were achieved using the Modernizr javascript plugin.

While this project was an upgrade of the website’s backend to a much more user-friendly and stable platform, the prior existing visual identity was kept to maintain the website’s brand identity. Despite this, there were numerous visual enhancements, with several upgrades to cleaner-looking layouts, progressive CSS3 enhancements, and heightened focus on readability and navigability. Additionally, the FoodBank expressed a interest in increasing user engagement through social media channels. As such, we introduced a Facebook commenting system and integrated social sharing throughout the site.

Since the organization is very events driven, a custom WordPress plugin was created and integrated with the Isotope.js javascript plugin, which would provide an easily sortable visualization of upcoming events across all departments.

Blue Jean Ball Recipe Book

Design & Development

April 2011
  • CSS3
  • HTML5
  • jQuery
  • Mobile app
  • Responsive Design
  • Treesaver.js

This aim of this project was to create a digital recipe e-book to distribute to the attendees of the 2011 Blue Jean Ball Gala, featuring two recipes from each of the vendors who catered the evening. To accomplish this we used a new technology called Treesaver, unveiled in December 2010 by Roger Black and Filipe Fortes as an alternative to static PDF documents.

Treesaver provides an in-browser reading experience that can easily double as a mobile application by dynamically adapting each page’s layout to fit any device’s screen size. Font and image sizes and column numbers will adapt instantaneously on any modern browser’s resize, or the flip of a mobile phone, to provide a seamless paginated reading experience.

This project was built using HTML5, CSS3 and jQuery, making it another example of our commitment to modern, progressive web standards.

Mark Tauriello

Design & Development

February 2011
  • CSS3
  • Fluid layout
  • HTML5
  • jQuery
  • Masonry.js
  • PHP
  • Wordpress
  • Yoxview

This was a thoroughly fun project for us! Mark Tauriello approached us with a simple request: He wanted to be able to update his portfolio without relying on a web developer to walk him through a complex process involving HTML and connecting to servers to upload images. Beyond that he gave us carte blanche, and we were more than happy to oblige!

Of course, we took his site development one step beyond. We consolidated his web presences while expanding into new territories. Using WordPress as a Content Management System, we created a custom interface that allowed him to upload each of his portfolio items. These would then appear under a beautifully designed, sortable image gallery. Using this same interface, we gave him a blogging platform and imported all of his previous blog posts from Blogger.

In addition, we created social media presences for Mark on both Twitter and Facebook, and integrated each into his website. On the front page visitors can “like” him and read his latest tweet. Visitors can comment on and share his blog posts and website using Facebook, which lead to an increased web presence and a 241% increase in traffic.

Capital Campaign Microsite

Design & Development

October 2010
  • CSS3
  • HTML
  • jQuery
  • MooTools

This was what we like to call a “quick and dirty” project. We were given a timeline of one week to get a microsite up and running in time for a press conference and print advertisements to promote the Community FoodBank’s capital campaign.

We mimicked the look and feel of pre-existing campaign materials, creating a fullscreen resizable image-based background using javascript. Since we wanted to keep all of the information on one page, we used a tabbed interface powered by the MooTools javascript library.

The project was delivered ahead of schedule, and provided the FoodBank with a point of contact for the public to find out more information or donate directly to their capital campaign.
